Mid-Week Update

It's only Wednesday and I feel like there is so much I have to report on.  First up, a big congratulations to the boys soccer team for earning there second win of the season against a tough St. Joe's team.  I didn't get to see the game, but I heard it was a battle with our boys edging them out in the end by a score of 2-1.  The girls, however, weren't as fortunate.  They fell to St. Joe's by a score of 4-0.  Both teams play at home next Monday against St. Mary's; boys at 4pm and girls at 5pm.  Hope to see everyone out to support our teams!

Still on soccer, I just wanted to clear up any confusion about the uniforms.  Since we have brand new soccer uniforms this year, we want to take care of them so they last a long time.  To do this we are asking that all players give their coach their jersey at the end of the game to ensure that they are washed properly and that we have them for the next game.  The shorts and socks are the responsibility of the players to care for.  The shorts will need to be returned at the end of the season, but the socks will be the players to keep for a minimal charge of $5.  We ask that all players pay this to their coaches as soon as they can so that we don't have to track down money when the season is over.  One other thing is that we ask all players to only wear their soccer shorts for soccer games.  These are part of a uniform and should not be worn as regular shorts at home, school or other places.  Thank you for you attention to this.

Volleyball season has also got under way now.  We met yesterday with the grade 7 students that were interested in playing to discuss expectations and handout some information.  All information as well as game schedule is posted on this blog.  All games will be Thursday's after school at 4pm for about an hour.  The boys will practice Wednesday's after school from 3:30-5:00 and the girls will practice Tuesday's after school from 3:30-5:00.  There are still spots open on both teams if you missed the meeting and are interested in playing.  Please come see me in the gym office if you would like a permission form and schedule.

Just a note for parents: we ask that if your child is playing on the volleyball team (or any team for that matter) that you pick them up at the school at the conclusion of their practice or game.  Our coaches are putting in a lot of extra time already and we don't want them to have to wait around too long for students to be picked up.

Finally, I just wanted to remind everyone about our Terry Fox Run this Friday afternoon at the school.  Our run/walk will start at 2:30 and go for about 50 minutes.  Students will be earning points this year for their intramural teams based on how many laps they complete.  They are calling for nice weather, so come join us if you like.
